Logitech Precision XBOX controller   PDF  Print  E-mail

Perhaps the biggest change (or even deterant) with the introduction of Microsoft's XBOX gaming console was the new style of controller.  At first glance it was big and bulky, not to mention unattractive.  But eventually it gained in popularity (arguably due to Halo) and there soon became many variations on the original design, one of these being the Logitech Precision Controller.

Microsoft actually seemed to change their mind a year or so after the initial launch of the console, changing the original, and much larger, controller with a new and improved smaller version.  It is hard to say which one is more popular, as it all comes down to personal preferences, but nonetheless Microsoft has given its players two options.  Adding to these styles are a number of third party controllers, some of which modify existing design and others that actually add some new, and sometimes useful features.  Logitech has opted to follow suite with the former, and simply make a few minor modifications to the existing design.

Because it is so difficult to provide an entirely objective review of a product like this, my opinions, and the opinions of my sample group will be reflected throughout.  My sample group you ask?  Yes.  I decided that it wouldn't be fair just to include my own subjectivity when it comes to testing an object like this, so I passed the controller around to 5 other avid console gamers and Halo experts.  They played the hell out of it for a few hours each and provided me with their input.
